Rummage Sale Named 2016 Tourism Event of the Year

May 12, 2017 — Visit Loudoun, the county’s tourism agency, presented the 78th Ladies Board Rummage Sale with the top honor as 2016 tourism event of the year at the 21st Annual Tourism Awards Luncheon held at the Holiday Inn Washington Dulles. U.S. Rep. Barbara Comstock (R-Va.-10th) was in attendance, as were state Sens. Jennifer Wexton (D-33rd) and Barbara Favola (D-32nd).

“We received a record number of nominations this year, which was really wonderful,” said Beth Erickson, president and CEO of Visit Loudoun.

Erickson said the rummage sale is especially notable for its longevity and consistent increased growth over the years, including visitor overnight stays and spending.

“All the nominees and winners brought engagement through social media and their interactions were extremely positive. It can’t help but put a smile on your face. It is our honor at Visit Loudoun to shine a spotlight on these remarkable professionals and what they do for our community,” Erickson added.
